The family of Joseph Lee Horton, age 38, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Joe served in the US Army for 13 years. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt, E-6. He was in the infantry for 10 years. He also was a recruiter for almost 3 years. He served 2 tours in Iraq and 1 tour in Afghanistan. Joe was awarded the Afghanistan campaign medal, with 2 campaign stars. National defense service medal. Army commendation medal Bronze star and another commendation medal for Valor. 3 good conduct medals.

Joe loved to ride motorcycles, he also loved to cook. Joe's ashes will be transported to the cemetery on his father's motorcycle for his last ride.

Joe is survived by his mother Melissa & father Robert, his sister Jackie Trisch. Joe had 2 children, Dominic & Calib.

Joe’s dad is an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders (Robert). Robert has asked the PGR to escort the Hero and his family from a church in San Marcos to Miramar National Cemetery.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the chapel service to his final resting place. You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
