The family of Derek Bruce Lovett has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Derek was born on 01 September 1955.

Derek enlisted in the Navy at the age of eighteen and served for six years. His specialty was Surface Sonar Technician serving aboard the USS Henderson DD-785. Derek was at the Naval Station, San Diego at the time of his honorable discharge as a Sonar Technician 2nd Class (STG2, E-5)

After the military, Derek worked for thirty years in the Aerospace Industry for Hughes Aircraft, General Motors, and Raytheon. After eleven years of college, Derek earned numerous degrees including his Master’s of Business Administration in Invetment Strategies, a Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management, and a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management.

Derek and his wife, Linda were very involved in numerous charities throughout the years. Together, they enjoyed donating their time and raising money for worthy causes including the American Cancer Society, Run for the Wall, Patriot Guards, Fallbrook Newcomers and Encore, Fallbrook Women’s Club, Fallbrook Vintage Car Club, Rally for Children, and PEO Chapter PF.

Music was a big part of Derek’s life. He enjoyed playing his guitars, mandolin, bango, and the ukulele, During his early years, he would produce his own music cd’s under has label Slackwater Records. After moving to Fallbrook, Derek and Linda joined the Fallbrook Chorale, The Wine Valley Harmonizers, and helped create their own group called Slacker Hill Band.

Derek enjoyed traveling, playing cribbage, telling bad jokes, golfing, spending time with his family, painting, photography, target shooting, and motorcycle riding. Being a grandfather made him incredibly proud and he took that honor very seriously.

Derek is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Linda, his siblings Marnie, Craig, and Roger, his daughter Jessica, his son Christopher and his five grandchildren.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.
