The family of GySgt James Mysliwiec, USMC(Ret) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their Hero. It will be our honor to fulfill their request.
Long time PGR member Jack Bland III ( Son-in-Law ) and his wife Kathy Bland (Daughter) , have lost their mother and father. Peggy whom died at the age of 73 on December 8, 2022 and James Whom passed away at the age of 66 on May 17, 2019. James’s ashes have been held due to Covid and now with the passing of his wife Peggy they will be entombed in Riverside National Cemetery together.
James served 20 years in the USMC. He enlisted in January 17, 1971 at MCRD San Diego. During his training he got sick due to being underweight but was determined and graduated Boot Camp on his birthday April 15, 1971. He then was stationed at numerous installations. El Toro, Ca.. Camp Pendleton, Ca.. 29 Palms, Ca.. Yuma Arizona, Cherry Point, North Carolina, and then went to Okinawa, Japan, while his family resides in the US. James retired September 30, 1991 from Camp Pendleton, California at the rank of GySgt.
James was born and raised in Harvey Illinois and Peggy was born in Orange County California. Peggy’s father was also in the military and served in government jobs and moved all around and moved back to Southern California where she met James in Santa Ana, California and married on June 14, 1975 which is known as Flag Day. James and Peggy were married for 44 years.
James retired from the Marine Corps in 1991. He then worked as an Informational Technology Tech for several companies and moved from Oceanside California to Torrance, Ca. and then into Hawthorne California. Peggy worked while stationed with James in the military at various on base as a cook, a cashier, assistant manager at the PX. Then she retired from Camp Pendleton when James retired from the Marine Corps.
James and Peggy are survived by their two children with their spouses along with four grandchildren and numerous siblings.
NOTE: This mission posting will facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will accompany the Hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the Cemetery.

If this will be your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just those we honor.
