Per the request of the family of Manuel Villarreal Gonzalez, the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) have been invited to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Manuel of Valley Center was born in San Antonio, Texas, on 07 September 1949 and entered Eternal Rest on 02 February 2023.

Although Manuel was V.A. disabled and experienced P.T.S.D., his passing was not combat-related.

Manuel proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War, serving “in country” as a machine gunner (MOS 0331). His awards/citations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, the Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm and Frame, the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. Manuel was honorably discharged from Camp Pendleton as a Sergeant (E-5).

After the Military, Manuel was an Engineer for forty-plus years.

Manuel’s hobbies included collecting anything military and was a huge softball/sports fan. He was involved with running a softball organization for over twenty years.

Manuel is survived by his wife Kathy, son Manuel and daughters Julie and Marissa. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting will facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.

NOTE: Please observe the latest “COVID-19” restrictions.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just those we honor.
