The family of Charles Madriles has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Charles proudly served in the US Army 05/14/68 – 12/12/69. He was deployed to the Vietnam War where he was exposed to Agent Orange.
Charlie was born in El Paso, Texas, in 1948 to Seferino and Teresa Madriles. He was the third child and shared his home with his siblings, Seferino Jr., Teresa, and Shirley. Charlie was proud to be from Texas. He lived in Los Angeles for a short time and eventually moved to San Diego.
Charlie was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam war. He endured tough times, and despite the turbulence that rose against him, he came out triumphant. War is never easy, but he didn't let that change who he was. The war made him tougher not only physically but emotionally and spiritually.
Charlie was prepared for the next chapters of his life upon moving to San Diego, where he would meet and marry the love of his life, Rosalie. Charlie and Rosalie met in 1970 and married in 1973. They had a beautiful relationship that would last over 50 years here on earth but will last for infinity in the heavens.
Charlie raised his family in National City and worked for many years as a machinist.
Charlie is survived by five children, Tony, Rachel, Carmelita, Teresa, and Christina. Charlie's family grew, and he had many wonderful nieces and nephews. Charlie's in-laws included his sister-in-law, Genevieve, brother-in-law, Henry, daughter-in-law, Angela, and sons-in-law Angel and Geovanny.
Charlie also greatly loved his grandchildren, Nadine, Carlos, Jesse, Alejandra, Armando, Alyssa, Isabella, and Baby Angel.
Charlie was accepting, gracious, humble, loving, and joyful. He brought a smile to heart and of all who knew him. He was a great example of God's love and lived his life being an example every day of his life.
NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying our hero and his family from the Church to his final resting place. (approx. 10 mi.) Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the cemetery.

We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely. Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
