  • Harley riding grandma who loves Jesus!
The family of Ernest John Sheriff III has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Ernest proudly served as a United States Marine from December 5, 1967 to August 1, 1971.  He did a tour in Vietnam and earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Combat Medal, Good Conduct Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry, and Rifle Marksman badge.

Just six years ago Ernest met Maria, the love of his life, and they married. Ernest was referred to as “Big Ern,” and she lovingly calls him as a World Class Husband.  He brought her coffee in bed every morning.  Ernie loved riding motorcycles but had to give that up when his health took a downturn.  He had a great sense of humor and loved to crack jokes.  Ernie and his father both were passionate drummers and his mom was a Charleston Champion of the world for a year.  Ernie’s grandparents migrated here from Morocco.

Maria wants so much to bring honor to her husband for his service, but they have no local family that are able to attend the funeral service as most of them live back East.  The Patriot Guard Riders will step in and honorably accompany our Hero and honor him at his service!

NOTE: You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
