The family of James Troy Bass has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

James served in the United States Navy from January 1951- November 1954 during the Korean war. James was stationed on the Destroyer Flotilla (USS Basilone) and was on the sea just outside of Korea serving as support to our military on land in Korea. James was fire control and loved what he did.  He was a proud Navy veteran.

After his service in the Navy, James opened his own music store Jim’s House of Guitars in San Diego for 20-years. He loved to play the guitar and spent most of his time in his store.  James was also a woodworker, artist, and fisherman. His work working of carousels, and mechanical moving woodwork pieces came straight from his mind, and he built the motors than ran these pieces. In his later years he resided in an assisted living facility that he loved! He played “Skip-Bo” with the other residents and enjoyed taking extra time to help the ones with memory issues. When he was told that he could not build the motors for his wood working pieces he would sneak orders into Amazon for certain parts and build them in secret. James lived to be 91 years old. His surviving family includes Jesse Bass 97, Jerry Bass-80, Otis Bass-96 (Brothers), Sandra Lee Bass-Seaton (daughter) 2 Grandkids, 5 Great Granddaughters.

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying our hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place, approx. 20 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
