The family of LTCDR Clyde T. Pate has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Clyde T Pate began his 20-year Naval career; June 1952-June 1972 at NTC San Diego. Clyde Trained to be a Corpsman at Bainbridge MD and served at Navy Hospital Pensacola before being assigned to the 3RD Marine Division at Camp Pendleton. Clyde had the distinction of being a “Slick Arm First Class” having obtained HN1 before he earned his first 4-year hash mark! Transferred to MCAS Kaneohe HI, he applied to the “Knife and Fork school” Officer Candidate Training school. Clyde was a CPO for 6 weeks before his acceptance to O.T.C school. Ensign Pate was assigned to the 1st Marine Air Wing, serving in Vietnam as a Medical Supply Officer transporting men and supplies. Clyde earned his bachelor's degree at Georgetown University while stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Back in San Diego at MCRD and then finishing his career in Japan, earning the rank of LTCDR.
Clyde married his childhood sweetheart Marilyn in 1953 and they were Blessed with 3 children. They bought a house in Clairmont and enjoyed life, with all that San Diego had to offer. Clyde is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Kerry Lyn, son Duncan and deceased daughter Tracy. They also have 4 grandchildren.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there, by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
