The family of Samuel Clinton Hammett Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Samuel entered the United States Navy in November of 1970 in Oahu, Hawaii. He served over thirty years and retired as a First-Class Petty Officer. He absolutely loved his time in the military and only got out because of the number of years he had served, the Navy said it was time for him to relax.  During his time in the Navy, he was the Navy Basketball team coach, he was also the Naval Warfare Operations Specialist Trainer.

In his personal life he had a wife he loved dearly and while he was in Vietnam, he found out he was going to be the father of twin girls. They were born while he was away, but he got to meet them shortly after. His one twin daughter passed at the age of 18 and he lost his wife just a handful of years later. Sam remarried and had a son.

Samuel passed in 2020 but his daughter was very passionate about having a proper service for her dad. It would mean the world to her to have the Patriot Guard there to help her honor him.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this will be a Flag Line Only at Miramar National Cemetery; see the time table if you would like to participate.
Please remember the weather may be warm, drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
