Harri Fenske, 79, USN, Sorrento Valley/Miramar - 08 Sept

The family of Harri Fenske has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Harri served in the United Stats Navy from 1965 to 1971. He obtained the rank of E-4 when he was honorably discharged.  Harri served most of his time in Pensacola Florida and served time on various ships for brief periods of time.

After Harri left the Navy, he worked for United Airlines and became the ground crew supervisor. He retired from United Airlines after more than 20 years.  He was an active member in the San Diego HOG and a lifetime motorcycle rider and enthusiast. Harri was a skilled craftsman in carpentry, glass art, archery, and physical fitness, working out every morning in his garage. Harri was known for making friends with all passersby.

In Late July Harri and his best friend/brother Marty were returning from a trip to Milwaukee when they hit the desert weather at 124 degrees and Harri passed away from heat exhaustion.  The San Diego HOG chapter will join the Patriot Guard to honor Harri on his final ride. We would love to see a big turnout for our motorcycle brother.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this will be an accompaniment from EL Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley Memorial Park to Miramar National Cemetery, approx. 4 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the cemetery.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
