PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE!!! Will probably arrive early at the cemetery.The family of Gene Alari, 67, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany this hero to his final resting place and be present for military honors. It will be our honor to fulfill their request.
Gene was born October 27, 1956 and passed away on December 3, 2023 at the age of 67. He leaves behind his beautiful wife and high school sweetheart, Maria, married 48 years, whom he absolutely adored. He also leaves behind his four wonderful children, Monique, Anthony also known as Bubba, Jeanine and Serena; five amazing grandchildren, Christopher, Zaylene, Gino, Zachariah, and Jamerson. He will also be missed by his daughter-in-law, Vanessa, and two son-in-laws, Tony and Tim. He was the second oldest of nine brothers and sisters, Angelo, Tony, Yvonne, Leonard, Yvette, Larry, Dean, and Angela.
Gene served in the United States Army from 1974-1977. In 1975, he was stationed in Texas where he and his wife lived for two years when they moved back to California in 1977.
Gene was huge on family. He absolutely enjoyed grilling and making sure that his family was always together. You could see the joy in him seeing all his family gathered enjoying one another's company. You could feel the love the moment you walked in. He always made you feel welcomed no matter what walk of life you came from.
Gene played baseball in his younger years. Bowling was a hobby that he and his wife enjoyed together and even were involved in tournaments. One thing was for sure, if any place had karaoke he was going to be putting on a show. His biggest fan was his wife and he loved serenading her. We definitely can't forget the UCLA football team, whether tailgating or gathering at the house to watch the game. It was GAME time and you had to be ready for the 8 clap & cheer when touchdowns happened or a good play.
It's the Sunday dinner gatherings, birthdays, holidays, church and so much more that is going to be a hard adjustment. The beautiful memories and imprinst he left will forever be treasured. His legacy will live on forever sharing the memories, lessons, conversations and stories. Thank you, Gene, for the beautiful life you created and all that you gave. Rest now in eternal peace enjoying a paradise we can only imagine. Until we are reunited again.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to the cemetery, approximately 30 miles. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
