Part 2 will be posted when details become available.

NOTE:  This mission includes aircraft arrival.  Flight times are subject to last minute changes so please check this thread for any changes before leaving for this mission.

The United States Army and the family of Prisoner of War Daniel De Anda have requested the Patriot Guard Riders accompany their Hero from the airport to the funeral home as he is brought home to his family.  We are privileged to participate.
U.S. Army CPL Daniel De Anda, 22, of Pico, California, who died as a POW during the Korean War, was accounted for January 10, 2023.  He was born on May 26, 1928, son of Vidal De Anda and Caroline Archando De Anda.  He will be brought home to California and laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery

In late 1950, De Anda was a member of G Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, 8th U.S. Army.  He was reported missing in action on November 30, 1950, after his unit attempted to withdraw from Kunu-ri, North Korea, on November 30, following the Battle of Ch’ongch’on.  In 1953, two POWs who returned during Operation Big Switch reported De Anda had been a POW and died in March of 1951 at Prisoner of War Camp #5.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the airport to the funeral home, approximately 28 miles.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
