The family of Donald Ray Moore has requested the assistance of the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring their hero by accompanying him to his final military honors at Riverside National Cemetery.  We will proudly accommodate that request.

Donald was born in Wisner, Louisianna, 16 October 1944. He was a football player in high school.  He served the United States Army from 13 June 1967 - 12 June 1969. He served two years in Vietnam in MOS 13B40 Field Artillery Crewman.  At the time of his honorable discharge, he was a SPG(T) E5.  He received a the Vietnam Service Medal w/ Bronze Service star and a Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with 60-device.

Following his service to America, our hero made steel and was a truck driver and later a bus operator for the City of San Bernardino.  Don retired in 1996. He loved to fish, fix cars and was a great cook, both in the kitchen and outside at the barbecue.

Our hero is survived by his wife, Lillie Moore, nee Clayborn, and by daughters, Dawnae, Denisha, DeWanda, and son, Damion.  Donald is also survived by siblings Beverly King and Derek Moore.  He was preceded by an infant daughter, DeShanda, DeWanda’s twin.  Don was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately 3 miles.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
