On Sunday, 06 October 2024, members of the Patriot Guard Riders will commemorate GySgt Preston Howard Clark, Jr’s. 61st birthday with a birthday drive-by. Put on your party hats and let’s make some noise as we honor this Marine for his service to our country and service to the United States Marine Corps.
Preston was born on 06 October 1963. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 10 March 1988 out of Seattle, WA. He graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, CA in May 1988 and reported to Tank Armor School in Fort Knox, KY. Shortly afterwards, he was assigned to Alpha Company 3rd Tank Battalion in 29 Palms, CA. As a tank crewman with 3rd Tank Battalion, his unit deployed to the Middle East to participate in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and the Afghanistan War.
In June 1997, he received orders to Marine Corps Security Forces school in Chesapeake, VA. After graduation, he was assigned to Marine Corps Security Forces company, Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, CA as a Marine Corps Security Guard, until August 2002 when he was transferred back to 29 Palms, CA.
After 25 years of service, Gunnery Sergeant Clark retired from the Marine Corps on 30 April 2013.
