The family of Vietnam Veteran LTC Ronald Bruce Loneski, US Army, retired, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service and his sacrifice to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Ronald served 20 years in the US Army (Airborne Rangers) from 1960 to 1980, retiring with rank of Lt Colonel. He served in Vietnam from June 1966 to May 1967 and May 1969 to April 1970.  He was awarded the Purple Heart, Two Bronze Stars (one for Valor) and commendations for meritorious service.

Ronald attended Kansas State University, and was a teammate on the KU Basketball Team with Wilt Chamberlain.  He is in the KU Sports Hall of Fame for Basketball.  The KU team for the 1957 national championship game included Maurice King, Gene Elstun, Wilt Chamberlain, John Parker and our hero Ron Loneski.  Ron was drafted into the NBA but chose, instead, to enlist in the Army and serve his country.

He received his Masters in Education at Pepperdine University and taught Special Education in San Diego for 21 years.  Ronald also coached, mentored/taught ROTC, and was once named Coach of the Year.  He was a civil War buff, an avid supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, and proud to be a Born Again Christian.

Ronald is survived by wife Jackie, daughters Laura Carroll and Linda Schlinder, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and three step children and nine step grandchildren.
