SSG Marcos Jimenez

Building Homes For Heroes (BHFH), a non-profit organization has invited the Patriot Guard to attend the Key Turning Ceremony for USMC , Wounded Warrior, in Murietta, CA and we are honored to do so.

Army Staff Sergeant Marcos Jimenez joined the military to serve his country and to make his family proud. SSG Jimenez was severely wounded on the morning of March 19, 2011 when the armored truck he was in was blown up by an improvised explosive device in the village of Pak-hab-e’Shana in Logar, Afghanistan.

He had to be dragged out of the twisted wreckage barely conscious. SSG Jimenez was evacuated by helicopter. He had multiple traumatic injuries and was comatose. He suffered a spinal cord injury, a fractured right tibia, a fractured left arm, and facial fractures. The damage to his right leg was extreme, but his leg was salvaged. He also suffered a traumatic brain injury and has been diagnosed with PTSD.

Among the commendations awarded to Staff Sergeant Jimenez were the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Afghanistan Operation Enduring Freedom Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4x), Army Good Conduct Medal (6x), Iraq Campaign Medal, Professional Development Medal (3x), and the Combat Action Badge.

SSG Jimenez, his wife Lucia, and their four children would like to reside in Murrieta, California.   We anticipate quite a crowd as the locals have stepped up in a big way and there will be a procession (which we will lead in) School, and other personnel driving and marching to the home.  We will stand a Flag Line at the home site as our Hero arrives.

The Patriot Guard will meet, brief, then ride to the home site. Once there we will stand a flag line as SSG Jimenez enters his new home.   If you wish to participate and meet our Hero, he is expected to meet us at our staging site and we can shake hands and learn how he is doing after so many years of rehabilitation.
