The family of TSgt John Francis Nodd has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard in the honoring of this hero, it would be our honor to do so.

John was hit by a car while riding his bicycle last week. He died on Saturday September 14th at Riverside County Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

John was born on Oct. 4, 1949 in Gary, Indiana.  John lived in Indiana for 40 yrs, and then later moved to Moreno Valley where he was a resident for 24 yrs.

Upon graduation from high school John had always wanted to fly. So he joined the Air Force, where he almost immediately became a Paratrooper. TSgt Nodd's job was to be flown in to enemy combat areas in Vietnam and parachute in to extract his wounded brothers. He also served on Helicopter gun ships providing cover fire while the wounded were being recovered. John served 20 yrs in the Air Force retiring honorably as a Tech Sergeant  (E-6) at the end of his service to his country.

After John's service days he went to work at March Air Reserve Base as a government civilian worker. He never wanted to stray too far from the job that he loved.

John was heavily involved with his church and served as both a table leader at Men's Bible Studies as well as a Bible Study Teacher.  John was very well respected in both his community, and his church. He will be missed very much.

John is survived by his wife Hiroko Nodd of Moreno Valley, a sister Rosemary Kotrich of Texas, brothers Carl Nodd of Florida, and Ted Nodd of Indiana plus many nieces and nephews.

There will be full military honors at RNC by the USAF Blue Eagles for this service.
