The family of US Navy Veteran Emil Aversa has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service and his sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Emil served two years in the Navy, April 1944 to May, 1946. His unit took part in the Liberation of the Philippine’s near the end of WWII, and was awarded medals for that operation.
In civilian life he was a TV repairman and was active as a Ham Radio operator. He was also active in the Association of Destroyer Veterans, having served on the USS Edward Stack (Hull #406), a Benham Class destroyer. He was proud to be one of the Tin Can Sailors. His ship (shortly after Emil’s discharge), was used as a target ship for the Bikini Atoll atomic tests and scuttled there.
He is survived by his wife, his sister, ten children, 34 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
