The family of Byron W. (Barney) Kinkennon has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey, it will be an honor to do so.

Byron W. Kinkennon entered into eternal rest on 27 April 2015.

Barney proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956.  He was with the 320th Air RFLG Sqd (SAC). While stationed at March AFB, CA. He was an airborne radio operator on the flying Boxcar C-119. Barney was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class (A1C). He received numerous medals which included Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Aircrew Member Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal.

After his honorable discharge, Barney worked on China Lake for 37 years. He loved flying model RC airplanes and was a past ship’s Captain for the V.F.W. 4084. Barney enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Barney is survived by Donna, his wife of 59 years, his two sons Scott and Tim. Barney is preceded in death by his daughter Kristell who passed away in 2011. He leaves behind three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from Holland & Lyons Mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
