The family of World War II Veteran Willie Jess Lopez have invited the Patriot Guard to join them in honoring this hero of the Greatest Generation at his interment this Wednesday and we are proud to do so.
Willie joined the United States Navy in August of 1943 and served in a variety of locations including Pearl Harbor, and was assigned to two different wooden hulled mine sweepers, the YMS-56 and YMS-76.

After his service to our country, Willie worked in Electro Plating. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his home, listening to Jazz music, and spending time with his family.
Willie is survived by his spouse of 40 years Yolanda Medina; siblings Dennis, Joe, and Cecilia Lopez; children Carolina Lopez, Jose Murillo, Pearl Murillo, and Barbara Lopez; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
