Dear So Cal Patriots Guard Riders:

My name is Tracie Tervalon and I am the mother of AEAA James "Jamie" Brown who tragically passed away in an accident on his naval base in Hawaii on 8/29/15. The loss of Jamie has left our family devastated, as we are an extremely close family.

Jamie was really coming into his own in the US Navy. He scored so high in A and C school that he had the privilege to choose his duty station, and he chose Hawaii in an endeavor to see the world. His ultimate goal was to see Japan, alas this was not to come to fruition.

Jamie was known for his amazing sense of humor and compassion. He cared for senior citizens before enlisting in the Navy. In one of our last text exchanges, I texted to him that I loved him. His response to me was " I love you more. Deal with it!"

To see how your unit honored my son will stay with me the rest of my life. You escorted my son and we are forever grateful. Our hearts swelled with pride when we saw you all with your flags. The dog tags you provided are around the neck of his father Kenny and his uncle Erik, and they have both vowed to never remove them.

I have enclosed 2 pics so you can see Jamie full of life, for to die at the age of 24 is indeed tragic. But you provided comfort on the day of his funeral and we are eternally grateful.

Sincerely, Tracie and Kenny Tervalon, parents of AEAA Jamie Brown, US Navy
