The family and friends of Albert Burns LeRoy (71 years) have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in accompanying him to his final resting place in Bakersfield National Cemetery. As Patriot Guard Riders it will be our privilege to do so.

Albert Burns LeRoy served in the United States Marine Corps from August 6, 1965 through August 5, 1968, attaining the rank of corporal. Albert served during the Vietnam War and was a Combat Marine in unit 311 Rifleman, which is the Primary Infantry unit of the Marine Corps. During his service, Albert received wounds in combat and later was awarded the Purple Heart. Albert was also exposed to herbicides during service. The effects of the war were evident in Albert’s life. At home, he did not dream at night and he did not talk about his service with anyone. Albert’s awards for his service included the National Defense medal, Vietnam Service medal with One Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with device, Rifle Expert badge and the Purple Heart.

After his Honorable Discharge, Albert worked as an electrician and retired as such. He also worked at ranching and farming. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and riding and caring for horses and mules. Albert liked spending time with his family and doing things for other people. He was considered by all as a Giver! He was always there to lend a helping hand.

Albert and his wife Linda were together 20 years. Albert is survived by his wife Linda M LeRoy; siblings, Scott LeRoy, Kurt LeRoy, and Mary Campbell: Children, Shelly Chavez, Kenny LeRoy, Eric LeRoy, Danny LeRoy and Bonnie LeRoy. Albert had 16 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
