'Homes for Our Troops' has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the Holiday Key Ceremony for SSG Wally Fanene and his family. We are honored to do so.

This home has been built at no cost to the Hero and constructed in order to make it access friendly for his needs. This is a real honor as the PGR will be able to privately meet with the Wounded Warrior prior to the accompaniment and then in full fanfare bring him to his newly constructed home.

Army SSG Wallace Fanene was on his 2nd deployment in September 2007 when he lost his right leg above the knee and his right arm below the elbow in an IED blast in Kirkuk, Iraq. A life-long surfer, SSG Fanene began surfing again post-injury as part of his therapies. He mentors other injured veterans as well, making sure that anyone who wants to surf has the opportunity to do so. Wally enjoys Jiu Jitsu, weight training, running in marathons, snowboarding, and swimming. He most enjoys spending time with his wife, Scarlet and their young son and daughter. The holiday season will have a special meaning for SSG Fanene as he receives freedom and independence through the gift of a specially adapted home.

NOTE:  This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  We will be accompanying the Hero from staging area to the newly constructed home.
