Robert Navarro, 79, USN, Apple Valley - 6 May 2017
« on: May 02, 2017, 07:18:09 PM »
The family of Robert Navarro, 79, of Apple Valley has requested the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring and remembering the life of their beloved family member and friend on 6 May 17. It will be our honor to do so.

Our hero was a native of Victorville. He served with the US Navy from 22 June 1955 to 11 June 1958. He served as a Gunners Mate on the USS Chemung (AO-30) 3rd Div and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and China Service Medal.

Following his military service he was employed by Cemex, which has 3 plants in the Victor Valley area, for 43 years.

Hobbies and interests included  hunting, working on older model cars, watching spiritual services on TV and traveling. He is survived by his wife Isabel; sister Lily; children Ruben, John and Frank Navarro; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was a very well thought of person and an estimated 100+ mourners are expected, including several motorcycles that will be part of the procession to the cemetery.

Services will begin at 1000 at the Church of the Whosoever, 18628 Seneca Rd 92307 (signal access from Apple Valley Rd). Burial will be in the family plot at Victorville Memorial Park, 15609 11th St, Victorville, 92395.

I am not certain exactly where in the park the plot is located but stairs are involved. If you choose to wait at the cemetery please be courteous to those who might be handicapped and park  remotely from the plot which I am sure will be protected by a canopy. The cemetery itself is on a grade.  A family member expects the burial to be held approximately at 1130 hrs.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero from the mortuary to the church and back to the mortuary. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
