The family of Master Sergeant Clifford Harvey Watt, has requested our presence at their hero's final honors. It will be our privilege to help honor this career Marine's 20 years of service and three (3) tours in Vietnam, for a country which he adopted.
As a child growing up in Canada, Clifford always wanted to be a United States Marine. In August 1958, at the age of twenty, he crossed over the border and enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He served this country for the next twenty years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant on Sept 1,1978. During his career, Clifford served three (3) tours in Vietnam. During his service he also became a US citizen.
For his service, Master Sergeant Watt was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Service Award, National Defense Service Medal, Cross of Gallantry Award, Expert Pistol Award, Expert Rifleman Award, and six (6) Good Conduct Medals.
After he retired from the Marines, Clifford moved back to Canada and became a comptroller for a Canadian oil company, for the next fifteen years. He was an avid Oilers hockey fan, loved to play golf, and he was the Director of the Alberta Golf Association for over 20 years.
Clifford is survived by his wife Violet; children Gregg, Sandra, Brian, & Sharon; fifteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Clifford and his son Brian where very close and called each other hero. Clifford, for his multiple tours in Vietnam; and Brian for, in 1997, being shot six (6) times, once in the head, and miraculously surviving and returning to serve and protect the people of Long Beach.
