The family of
Ernest Gobbi Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
Ernest was born on July 11, 1940 and entered Eternal Rest on July 14, 2017.
Ernest served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. He earned his Wings with the 101st Airborne Division’s 326th Brigade Engineer Battalion, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. At the time of his discharge Ernest had attained the rank of Specialist (E-4). For his service he received 101st AB Parachutist badge, driver badge, good conduct medal, expert badge (rifle).
After his Military service Ernest was a family restaurant manager at El Charrito in Oceanside. Ernest is survived by his wife of 39 years Maria A. Gobbi and siblings Robert & Genevieve Gobbi, sons Ernest, Michael, David and daughters Gina, Annette and Vienna. Ernest and Maria also have 8 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. The Gobbi family resided in Oceanside and later in San Marcos.
Ernest was an avid reader and had a vast library of books. He attended Bible study every Saturday and enjoyed fine beverages such as Tequila, Rum, etc.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
NOTE: The weather is predicted to be hot so please stay hydrated and don’t forget to eat; it can make a difference with your ability to withstand the heat.

Ernest Gobbi Jr 7/11/1940 – 7/14/2017You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging are and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of the mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heros. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during flag line service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed grounds. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
