The family of Gary George German, 77, has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to honor this American Hero; it will be our honor to do so.

Gary was born on 09 October 1940 in New York, New York, but grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

After high school, Gary enlisted and proudly served his country for six years in the United States Army as a PFC during Vietnam.  His years of service were from 20 November 1961 to 19 November1967.

Following his military service, he worked for Dresser Industries a division of Halliburton for 35 years.

Gary was an active member of American Legion Post 200 in Lake Elsinore for over twenty years. Gary used his experience from the Army to give back to the veteran community. He had donated his time at the American Legion Post 200 where he served as 2nd Vice Commander off and on, but his primary role was that of Cantina Manager. It was not uncommon for Gary to pay for Post functions out of his own pocket. He never wanted any recognition for the things he did. Gary was the heartbeat of the post and everyone who came in quickly figured that out. He was the most supportive and genuine person you’d ever meet, giving you the shirt off his back if need be. He was never afraid of speaking his mind on anything that he agreed or disagreed with. You better be prepared for a debate if that situation was to arise.

Gary loved children and animals. His children have plenty of stories about their time growing up with their dad.

He will be truly missed by all who knew him and had the honor of calling him a fellow brother, friend or family. He will live on in the hearts of everyone he was blessed to know him.

Gary is survived by his daughter Michele and son Richie and three wonderful grandchildren. He also leaves behind many other cherished family members and dear friends. He will be so greatly missed, but his memory will never be forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the American Legion Post 200 to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

The weather is predicted to be hot so please stay hydrated and don't forget to eat; it can make a difference with your ability to withstand the heat.
