The family of SCPO Nemaia George Hunkin, USN (RET) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

George proudly served 30 years in the United States Navy achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and retiring in 1990.  George was a veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed at various locations such as Midway Island, Taiwan, and Italy. He also served onboard the USS Nereus and the USS Saipan. His final station was in Dahlgren, Virginia at NSWC.  During his service he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and Overseas Service Medal to name a few.

Post retirement, George continued to serve the Navy through his management career at DeCA, the Defense Commissary Agency, where he worked for 15 years before retiring again in 2008.

In 2005, he met his life partner, Teresita “Diana” Sotoa, with whom he spent 12 wonderful years traveling, dancing, and providing help to those in need both in San Diego and in the Philippines.

George was an avid traveler and often visited the Philippines with Diana. Together, they were committed to enriching the lives of family and friends around them. Loved ones in the Philippines honored and respected George so much they gave him the nickname, “King George.” George was a loving husband, caring father, loyal friend, and proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a dog-lover. Those who know him have experienced his love and affection for their family dog, Brooklyn.

He is survived by his spouse, Teresita Sotoa, his daughter, Crystal Hunkin, step-son, Sammy Sotoa, and grand-dogs Brooklyn Sotoa and Chance Sotoa.
