It is an honor the Cypress Police Department and family of Cypress Police Officer Matthew Ward invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their loved ones funeral services.
Matt was a graduate of Los Alamitos High School, and held a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Public Administration from Brandman University.
Matt's law enforcement career began as a deputy with the Los Angles County Sheriff's Department working Men's Central Jail. On 28 APR 2008 Matt made a career move and joined the Cypress Police Department. During his nine years with Cypress Police Department Matt served as a Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Detective, Police Explorer Advisor and Homeless Liaison. Matt earned designation as Employee of the Quarter in 2011 for his enthusiasm, dedication and strong work ethic.
Matt liked to travel, go on motorcycle trips with his friends, and spend time with his family.
On 08 Oct 17, shortly after 9 am, Matt tragically lost his life when he was involved in a traffic accident while taking his 5 year old son, Liam to a scouting event. Liam suffered minor injuries.
Matt is survived by his wife, Allison; sons, Liam, 5 years old and Anderson, 2 years old; two brothers and loving parents.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
