The family of Navy veteran John R. Newman has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the services of their loved one and honor this American Hero; we are honored to do so.
John was born June 6, 1928 in Watertown, New York. Mr. Newman enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and was assigned to the Destroyer USS STRIBLING (DD-867). John served his country for a total of 2 years and was a very proud Veteran.
John was married to the love of his life Shirley for 64 years. John and Shirley had 5 children. After his service, John worked as a Mechanic and later as a Real Estate Broker. His passion was mostly centered on his family; however John loved flying planes in his younger days and later in re-took flying lessons and would go for a ride on a plane or helicopter whenever asked. You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car)
