The family of Donald Arthur Halvorson has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to be present at his funeral services to honor him; we would be honored to do so.

Donald Arthur Halvorson of Oceanside, California, born September 7, 1927, in Great Falls, Montana passed away January 27, 2018. Donald was a resident of San Diego, California for 64 years.

Donald proudly served in the US Navy and held the rank of AG-1 – Aerographer’s Mate Petty Officer 1st Class upon discharge.  Aerographer's mates are the Navy's meteorological and oceanographic experts, trained in the science of meteorology and physical oceanography. They also monitor weather characteristics such as air pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed, and direction.  Don was last assigned duty with Fleet Air Wing Fourteen. 

After leaving the Navy, Donald continued government service for 35 years in the Weather Bureau as a Meteorologist.

Donald is predeceased by his daughter Holly and grand-daughter Shawna.  He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lavella Jean, son Shawn and wife Julie, grandsons Ryan and Kyle Halvorson and so many friends who loved him.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
