The family of Freddie “Sam” Armstead Guthrie has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their Hero.  We are privileged to do so.

Sam, as he was known to family & friends, served in the USAF from Feb 1964 through Feb 1968.  While stationed in Vietnam he was tasked with loading munitions into B-52’s.  He was honorably discharged as a SGT and was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Sam worked at Vulcan Materials, a rock and cement business until his retirement.  In his spare time he enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and camping.

Sam is survived by his wife of 50 years Kathy, his sons Scott and Kevin and a daughter Danielle.  He leaves behind 7 grandchildren.
