The family of TSGT DeMax "Max" P. Dewees has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their Hero for his military service, we would be honored to do so.
Max Dewees enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 and served during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1947. He then re-enlisted in the US Air Force in 1947 and proudly served another 20 years, during Korea and Vietnam, until his retirement in 1967. He was an aircraft mechanic with the 330th bomb squadron and was also a ballistic missle launch technician with the 321st strategic missle squadron. He retired at the rank of Tech Sergeant.
After retiring from the USAF Max worked at Steelcase as a machine operator. He retired approximately 1990. He rode motorcyles his whole life. He and his wife would hop on the bike and ride with no particular destination in mind. He also loved his model trains. He was constantly adding on to his elaborate setup in the garage, it was complete with scenery, brass engines, switches, working railroad crossing arms, lighted passenger cars, even passengers inside. He also built radio controlled air planes. He was always wiling to help anyone in need. He was a terrific back yard mechanic, and taught his children the importance of maintaining your vehicle. He used to ask them, "How are your tires? You know, your tires are the only thing between you and the road."
His wife, Jean, passed away in December 2017. He had one brother, Gerry Dewees, who passed away several years ago. Children Robert Timothy and Ronald, pre-decease him. His surviving children, Daniel Dewees, Debra Garcia, and step children James Popp, Gary Popp, Annette Brock, and Janette Dearing. He had 11 grand children and 27 grandchildren. His last years were spent in a nursing home. He suffered from Alzheimer;s disease. Finally, at age 91, God called him home. His daughter Annette says "He was truly the nicest man I have ever known in my life".
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
