The family of  Santiago (Jim) Rascon Jr., 86, has requested the PGR help honor his service to his country. It will be a privilege to do so.

Jim served in the US Army in the Korean War from Dec 1952 to Nov 1954. For his service he received the Korean & UN service medals and the National Defense service medal. He was honorably discharged at the rank PVT-2

After the service Jim, as a teamster, drove trucks for 31 yrs. He also was a large home appliance repairman for 15 yrs.

Jim was a founding member of VFW Post 10218 in El Monte. He served as a Quartermaster, Trustee & Color Guard over a 21yr period. he also  coordinated VFW-sponsored food drives and charity events, using his home as base of operations until the post secured its own building. In 1997, received commendation from the Mayor of the City of El Monte as "Community Champion".

Jim is survived by his wife Dianne, sons Larry & Matthew and four granddaughters
