!! CHANGES - WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT DUE TO A PLANE CRASH NEARBY THERE WILL BE NO SERVICES AT RIVERSIDE NATIONAL CEMETERY.  THIS FUNERAL HAS NOW BECOME A FLAG LINE ONLY AT THE CHURCH FOR NOW AND THE BURIAL PORTION WILL BE RESCHEDULED AT A FUTURE DATE TBD !!

Per request of our good friend and PGR member Gregg “Digger” Walker (Walker Family Funeral Services), the family of Santiago “Jim” Orosco has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Jim was born on 23 April 1927 in California and entered into Eternal Rest on 18 April 2019 in Riverside, just five days prior to his 92nd birthday.

Jim proudly served his Country for approximately thirty years. Jim enlisted in the Navy in September 1945 and honorably retired as a Lieutenant (junior grade) (LTJG) in January 1975. Jim served in both Korea and Vietnam. During Korea, Jim served as a HAM radio operator.  Of his many duty stations that Jim served, those included serving aboard the U.S.S. Princeton, Moffett Field and Guam.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy Jim worked as an electronic technician for Lockheed and AB Dick.

Jim enjoyed traveling and rebuilding computers. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved his dog Harley (Yellow Lab).

Jim is survived by his wife Jean and her children, and his children Jim, Mary, Anne, Susan, Michael, Carole, Bill, Ruth, Elizabeth and Gilbert. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Gilbert and sister Margarita.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
