The family of Roland Albert “Doc” Lucier has requested the SoCal PGR to attend their Hero’s funeral services.  We are honored to do so.

“Doc”, as he was called, served in the Navy from 1942-1945.  After his service he completed his degree in Electrical Engineering at MIT.  He then rejoined the Navy from 1949 -1958.  He left the military at the rank of Captain (O-6).

“Doc” then joined the LA County Sheriff’s Department in 1959 and completed graduate degrees in Psychology and Theology.  In 1970 he worked as a Court Appointed Psychologist for the City of Long Beach.

“Doc” ran a Wedding Chapel in the Lafayette Hotel in Long Beach, marrying hundreds of Navy and Marine couples.

From 2008-2010 he was active in the SoCal PGR attending numerous Veterans Without Family missions.  He rode in a sidecar attached to a Harley-Davidson FXLR built by him and “Adopted” family member Ron Galasso.  “Doc” enjoyed many rides through the Southland in the sidecar.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
