The family of Carl Frank Delia has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to stand with them on the occasion of his committal. Carl passed on Memorial Day, May 25th, 2020. He was a victim of the Covid-19 Virus. We are honored to join with the family when so many can't as he was denied a proper funeral mass, military honors, and participation of extended friends and family due to the current social assembly restrictions.

Our hero served in the United States Army on active duty from 10/4/57- 3/20/59. he was a member of an artillery crew for his two years of active duty . While serving out his commitment in the Army Active Reserve he was recalled to active duty from 9/16/61-8/12/62. This was as a result of the Berlin crisis where the Russians encircled the city of West Berlin with barbed wire and constructed the Berlin Wall dividing that great city. He served this second active duty period at Ft. Bragg as a section chief with the rank of Sergeant E-5.

Carl and his loving wife, Barbara, met through extended family in their home city of Brooklyn when she was 17. They were married at a young age and at the time of his passing were married 58 years. Carl worked for United Airlines his whole civilian career down on the flight line as a ramp mechanic. This enabled the couple to enjoy the perk of free flights, often to Europe and Hawaii. Later, the two enjoyed cruises. When Carl retired, he enjoyed puttering in his garden and household chores as he was quite handy and Barbara continued to work even after Carl retired. Carl loved to go shopping if for no other reason than to interact with people. They also were active in their Parrish where they were part of a group that packed and sent care packages to servicemen.

Our hero is also survived by two brothers, Thomas and Richard who are aged and live out of the area and are unable to attend. Carl and Barbara also have two children, Christopher, a Navy Veteran, and Theresa. They are blessed with four grandchildren.

We are being afforded this honor of sending off our hero with the total cooperation of the staff of Eternal Valley. They are delighted that we are going to be present and I discussed this all with the Director.  This venue is still operating under Covid-19 restrictions. we will be masked and socially distant, but highly visible. There is no accompaniment so our motorcycles and cages will not have to travel in tight formation on this challenging property. Because military honor teams have been standing down at this time, Eternal Valley is hoping to engage with us even more.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. Expect it to be hot and sunny so sun protection and hydration are advised.
