The family of Samuel W. Beckom, United States Marine Corps, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor him for his service to our country. It would be our honor to do so.

Sam was born August 3, 1984 in Texas and was living in Midlolthian, Virginia when he joined the Marine Corps on January 11, 2005 at the age of 21. He attended multiple machine gunner courses and his MOS was Low Altitude Air Defense Gunner. Sam also provided general security for the air wing. Samuel served two tours in Iraq, the first from Aug 2006 to Feb 2007 and the second from Sep 2007 to April 2008. He was honorably discharged on January 10, 2009 as a Corporal.

Sam’s awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/1 Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Rifle Expert Badge. He also received a Certificate of Commendation, Certificate of Appreciation and Letter of Appreciation. One time, after a week of training, he was told to report to quarters to be awarded the Marine of the Month. Having just come off the field, his appearance wasn’t outstanding. After a dressing down by a senior Marine for appearing that way, he received his award.

Upon leaving the Corps, Samuel worked on getting his BA and then his MBA from San Diego State University. He achieved this goal in 2015. Sam was working as a Senior Security Engineer for Zensar Technologies at the time of his passing.

Samuel enjoyed amusement parks, traveling and exploring, history, the shooting range, new restaurants, swimming, drawing, and intellectual conversations. If one could describe Sam, the words that would best reflect who he was: smart, loyal, kind, loving, strong, brave, direct, quiet, truthful, and resolute. He loved his family, exploring new cultures and foods. Sam always strived to achieve his best, challenging himself to learn more.

Sam leaves behind his wife, Trinida; his children, Delilah, Peter, June, and Annette; his parents, Bobby and Constance Beckom; his siblings, Thomas and Margaret.
