At the request of our fellow Ride Captain Chip Williams, and his family, they are inviting the PGR to attend the graveside military honors for Chip's family member,  We are honored to accept.

Guy Williams Gates enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Dallas, Texas on 4-Feb-46 and was later absorbed into the newly formed USAF.  He was stationed at nearby Carswell Air Force Base, in Fort Worth, Texas.  He went to Lawry Field, CO for Photo Lab School and returned to Carswell.  Upon his return to CAFB, he would routinely take his camera home with him to Forestburg, Texas for the weekend.  He would take photos of community events and especially local rodeos.  He remained at CAFB until his honorable discharge in Sept. 1948,  While in service he earned the World War II Victory medal and was a Marksman with the M1 Carbine.

Guy, along with his half-brother Leon, moved to California and opened Cal-Tex Automotive that for decades supplied automatic transmission parts to shops throughout the Los Angeles area.

Guy was an avid deer hunter with both rifle and longbow.  Eventually he became a guide for other hunters.  He held numerous Archery Championship Titles.  He was a lifelong collector of arrowheads and had an extensive collection.

He was pre-deceased by his wife of 63 years, Katheryn Dill Gates, his daughter Wilma Faye Hamm Harville, young son Roger Dale Gates and half-brother Leon Freeman.  He is survived by his son, Doyle Gates of Forestburg, TX; his grandchildren Paul Hamm of Colorado, Cindy Hamm Hankin of Maryland, Joey and Rocky Gates of Forestburg, TX.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. There will be no procession as the coach containing the Hero will already be at the gravesite.

NOTE: If you are able, we will need 5 pall bearers as Chip will be the 6th.

NOTE: Please observe the latest Covid-19 restrictions as there will be attendees with compromised immune systems.
