The family of Jose Isac Urquiza has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Jose was born in Union, New Mexico on 22 April 1948, and on 04 June succumbed to complications as a result of exposure to Agent Orange.

Jose graduated from Hemet High School in 1968. Jose earned a CIF award running the 220-yard dash when in high school.

Jose was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 07 March 1968 to 19 December 1969 serving as a Rifleman(MOS0311). Jose was injured when he was hit by a mortar round while Vietnam. Included in the numerous awards/citations that he received were the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Service Medal w/device, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 star, Rifleman Marksmanship Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal.  His last duty assignment was with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. He was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal.

Jose enjoyed panning for gold on the Yuba River in Northern California, he was a great outdoorsman. He was a dog lover and his best friends were two Bull Mastiffs that he bred.

Jose was a hands-on craftsman who enjoyed doing masonry work, especially with river rock.

Jose is survived by two sisters and three brothers and he also leaves behind nephews and nieces.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

If you cannot accompany this Hero please consider meeting us at the entrance of the Cemetery with a flag line as the hero arrives.

0900 – Flag line as our Hero is moved to the coach.

0900 – KSU to Riverside National Cemetery, (Staging Area #5 for family, north of Staging Area #8 for PGR) 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518 http://goo.gl/maps/v0K0E

1000 – KSU to the assigned Shelter for Flag line, Service, and Military Honors.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
