The family of Rueben (Casey) Felix Chavez, USA/USAR, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
Casey was born on 09 November 1946 and passed away 28 October 2020 at the age of 74 years old. He is survived by his son, Rueben Jr., daughters, Michelle and Gabrielle, brothers, Bobby Chavez (wife Patty) and Pete Maldonado. Casey also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
Casey attended and graduated from Huntington Park High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the USA from 13 April 1967 to 10 April 1970, during the Vietnam War. Casey honorably served in Vietnam and in Germany as a Green Beret and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. At the time of his honorable discharge, Casey earned the Purple Heart, Parachute Wings from over a hundred jumps from airplanes and helicopters, Expert Rating Badge as a Rifleman, and Parachute/Combat Readiness Badge. He was trained to be a Communication Center Specialist as a radio teletype operator and trained in accordance with the Geneva Convention.
Casey is described by his family this way: “The person that is the glue that holds things together. A person they honor by becoming the people he believed them to be. A person who traveled from California to Oklahoma to help bury an adopted sister while fighting cancer without complaining about the pain. A person who was self-sacrificing who thanked his nurses even as death grew near. A person who loved and fought to protect his family and country with every breath. Casey was this family’ s hero. He also enjoyed baseball laughing and teasing. Casey’s most remembered saying is “this old man is gonna be around a long time.” He is and will be in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him.”

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
