Joe Marez Escalera, 89, USN – Rosemead - 29 Jan
« on: January 28, 2021, 06:43:07 AM »
The family of Joe Marez Escalera, 89, USN, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present at his military honors as he is laid to rest.  We will be honored to do so.

Joe was born on Nov 18, 1931 and passed away on Jan 13, 2021.  He served in the United States Navy from Dec 2, 1952 to Dec 1, 1960.  At the time of his exit from the Navy, he was honorably discharged Seaman BMG3.  He received a United Nations Good Conduct Medal.

After his military service, Joe worked for Composite Structures in Monrovia, CA for over 35 years as a painter for aircraft parts.  His hobbies included camping every year, taking his family to the Sequoias and Campland on the Bay; bowling (bowled a 269); UCLA football and basketball; horse races (Native Diver favorite horse); family BBQs and yards games; per Joe, loved his coffee black because he was in the Navy (if you drank coffee with sugar you were drinking Kool-Aid!)

Joe is preceded in death by his wife Sally in 2008.  They were married for 51 years.  He is survived by three sons, Joe, Carlos, and Albert; two daughters, Lisa and Susan; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this will be a flag line only (FLO) at the cemetery.  Please see the timetable below if you would like to participate.

NOTE: Please observe the latest COVID-19. Face coverings are required.

It is anticipated to be raining so please be careful out there on the roads.
