The family of Douglas Shaw Wellons, 75, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
Douglas Wellons proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War but didn’t deploy overseas. He served in the Artillery Unit as a specialist. Douglas served from July 12, 1966 to June 23, 1968.
Douglas retired after 30 years at TRW where he began as a Jr. Industrial Artist, continued to Sr. Industrial Artist and then became the Head of the Art Department.
In his "free time," he was a graphic artist doing designs for Hobie shirts, KOWE T-Shirts, worked collaboratively with friend, co-worker, and business partner, Mel, as an illustrator for Mystic Games, and "Our Fascinating Earth" and a short-lived advertising company.
Other hobbies include going to the movies, spending time with his family, game nights, barbecues, movie nights, fire pit nights, attending his grandkids' soccer and baseball games, school events, and above all making sure his family knew they meant the world to him.
Douglas’ wife preceded him in death. He is survived by brother, Tom Wellons; two daughters, Heidi Shreve and Heather Wellons; and six grandchildren.
Douglas will truly be missed by all those who knew him.
