!! DATE CORRECTION - MISSION IS SATURDAY/JUNE 26 !!

The family of USMC Captain Fred Migliorini, age 88, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their Hero with an accompany from the family home in Buena Park, CA, to the church for his services and military honors, we will be honored to do so.

Fred had a long and remarkable career, to say the least, defending our country.  He retired as a Captain after 20 years in the US Marine Corps, serving in both the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. Following his retirement from active duty, he then served another 10 years in the reserves, for a total of 30 years of honorable service.

During his active duty career, Fred notably achieved the following:Two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained in both Korea and Vietnam. A Battlefield Commission during Vietnam, making him also a Mustang. The award of the Navy And Marine Corps Medal for heroism.

The Navy And Marine Corps Medal was awarded for an incredibly selfless act while in Vietnam. A Navy Corpsman had walked into a minefield, detonating a mine and blowing off a foot. Fred, a trained combat engineer, proceeded into the minefield, finding and disabling several mines en route to the Corpsman. Once he reached the injured man, he then had to disable several more mines in close proximity, include some that were underneath the Corpsman undetonated. Once this was accomplished, he was then able to lift and carry the Corpsman out of the minefield, saving his life. Fred never flinched, and later said he was just doing his job.

Another interesting note...Fred was severely wounded in a truck explosion in Korea, for which he was awarded his first Purple Heart. During his recuperation in Japan, he was invited out on a blind date. His date didn't speak a word of English, and Fred didn't speak a word of Japanese. Language was no obstacle, however, as Fred had met the love of his life...and eventually spent 67 years married to her.

Upon retirement Fred started a career in Real Estate, first in selling and then for the past 45+ years appraising.  Fred & his wife Kay also started Round & Ballroom Dancing, where they eventually became teaching and putting on displays around the world.  They also found a love for cruising, which literally took them around the world.

Fred leaves behind his wife of almost 67 years, Keiko (Kay), three children, 5 grandchildren, and 11 great-children.

Fred had a long and productive life. Needless to say, he was loved by many and will be sorely missed. It will be a great honor to stand for him. We should not morn that Fred has died...but we should be forever grateful that such men lived.

His military honors will consist of taps, followed by the folding and presentation of the American Flag to his wife, at the conclusion of his memorial service and. The presentation will be made by Fred's grandson, who is a Commander in the US Coast Guard.
