The family of Robert Graham Golding, Jr., 85, has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard to accompany this United States Marine Hero to his final resting place. It will be our distinct Honor to do so.

Robert's services were postponed due to the Pandemic.

After Robert finished High School he went into the Marines to help his Country during the Korean War.  Robert served with the Marines from 25 May 1951 until his Honorable discharge date on 30 April 1954.  Robert served in Korea for a year. During that time with the Marines, he was discharged at the rank of Cpl.

His military awards were: National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

After his discharge from the Marines, he went to work for TRW/Nelson Stud Welding Company for over 40 years.  When he retired, Robert really enjoyed his retirement because it gave him time to go fishing and hunting but especially hang out with his grandkids and great grandkids.  Even in retirement. Robert was first and foremost a Marine...always flying his American and his Marine Corps flags.  When Robert wasn't fishing or hunting or playing with his grandkids or great grandkids, he was helping out at the American Legion, and the Navy league for the camaraderie.

Robert and his family have decided that he would like to be buried at sea, so we will make sure that our Hero gets to where he needs to be, and to be buried and remembered the way that this Marine's journey should end.

Robert leaves behind his daughter Lisa Thompson, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Robert's wife passed earlier and he missed her greatly.

The Patriot Guard will be picking up the family and the Hero and taking them to the departure site (boat dock) for this Honorable Marine's final journey.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family approx 10 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the boat dock, we will meet you there.
