The PGR has been invited by the Family of Charles Franco and Santa Barbara Elks #613 Goleta, AMVets Santa Barbara Post 3, American Legion Post 49, VFW Post 1649, and it our honor to do so;

1st Memorial  mission is to honor the 13 Fallen Afghanistan Service members that were killed from the suicide bomber Flag line and full Miltary Honors
(The Fallen but not Forgotten)

Saturday, 02 OCT 2021:

Honor Mission # 2 Memorial US Army SP5 Charles Edward Franco

Awards he received //Honorable Discharge// Good Conduct// National Defense Service Medal// Vietnam Service Medal// Vietnam Campaign Medal// Meritorious unit Citation
//Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross//. He joined the Army in July of 1966. He became part of the 86th Eng. BN CO A. He was a heavy equipment operator. He served in Germany first and then he served in Viet Nam. After the Army, he used his equipment skills to work for Cal-Trans, He worked there for 33 years before he retired.

Charles Edward Franco was born on October 31, 1941. He passed away on March 31, 2020. He was born in Santa Barbara to Joseph and Genevieve Franco. He is survived by his wife Cathy Franco has one brother Bill He was the 12th generation to be born and live in Santa Barbara. He was part Chumash and was proud that He was part of the Coastal Tribe. 

They had three sons, Charles (Laura), Mike (Kim), and James. He has three grandchildren, Joseph, Ava, and Eli, He has two step-grandchildren, Tony and Brianna.. He has four stepchildren, Joe (Page), Jesse (Angelena), Cheryl, Charlene (Justin). He also gained twelve step-grandchildren, Presly, Dylon, Lucy, Blake, Chase, Carter, Sterling, Brody, Ruby, Joseph, Dean, and Colbie, He proudly became an Elks member of Santa Barbara #613, and He was also a member for 17 years. He became a charter member of the VietNam Veterans Chapter 218.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
