Part 2 of 2 Parts

The family of SSgt Manuel L. Moreno, age 26, and the US Air Force, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their Hero. And it is our privilege to do so.

SSgt Manuel Moreno was serving at the Naval Support Activity, Souda Bay, Greece at the time of his untimely passing.  He was assigned to Detachment 1, 95th Recon Squadron (ACC).  His commanding officer had this to say about this Hero: "Manuel was one of the finest airmen in the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron. I am personally aware of numerous achievements he made in his time here including the refurbishment of our hazardous materials locker and completing multiple equipment inventory inspections. He performed repairs on two previously condemned aircraft air conditioning units which rendered support for our aircraft to maintain safe cooling temperature for sensitive onboard avionics equipment. Additionally, he single-handedly removed and replaced two critical fuel tank pumps in less than eight hours, which were vital to the use of our fifty-five pieces of aerospace ground equipment worth $1.6 million. This had a direct positive impact on our reconnaissance missions here in the European theater. Beyond this, he served as a leader in the squadron booster club, planning events and raising money to ensure the morale of our entire unit. Manuel was a star performer during his time with the squadron and could always be counted on to be diligently "turning the wrench". During the month of August, he was selected and praised by our senior enlisted leader to receive the Outstanding Performer of the Month award."

SSgt Moreno is survived by his parents and many other family members, friends and fellow Airmen; he will be missed by all and will never be forgotten.
