The family of William "Bill" Leonard Sgro has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their hero to his final resting place. We are honored to have been invited to join with the family in this journey and participating in his final Military Honors and committal ceremony.

Bill enlisted in the Air Force National Guard in October 1957 as a Loadmaster, and later was commissioned to be a Navigator in October of 1964 to active duty.  He flew air support missions with the Mobility Airlift Command during the Vietnam War. He served proudly for 13 years reaching the rank of Captain and he retired from the Air Force . He also earned the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

He was honorably discharged on 3 NOV 77.

After his military service, Bill worked as a lighting and electrical sales manager for Eco Engineering.  He worked for over 40 years in the electrical and lighting industry, and was on the teaching staff at Moorpark College, teaching business classes in the evening.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Sgro; 5 children:  Randy, Cheryl, Jodi, Krista, and Robin; 14 grandchildren; and, 2 great grandchildren.

We are humbled and proud to join this hero's family on this special day. The accompaniment is 13 miles.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the Church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would like to go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
