The Family of James Westover has invited the Patriot Guard to participate in their hero’s journey to his final resting place at Riverside National Cemetery. We are honored to fulfill this request.

James was born on Sept. 22, 1951 and passed on April 19, 2021. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 1st, 1972 and was honorably discharged on June 11th, 1976 having achieved the rank of Corporal. During his four years of service he worked as an Aircraft Electrician and was assigned to multiple Aircraft Carriers.

Following his military service James worked as a courier for the Los Angeles Police Dept. and later as a computer technician for a company in Los Angeles.
 
His hobbies included riding and working on motorcycles, particularly Sport Bikes. He loved taking rides to Malibu. He loved working on anything mechanical. James also enjoyed photography and food. He enjoyed eating various foods he had never tried before.

James is survived by six children: Wendy, Alexi, James, Jessica, Ashley and Austin. Four Siblings: Guy, Robert, William and Ruthann. Four grand children and many nieces and nephews.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the family home to the cemetery. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. If you prefer to meet the procession at the cemetery please feel free to do so.

Time Table for Thursday, 21 October, 2021:

1045: Stage at Lowes Hardware, 6413 Pats Ranch Rd. Jurupa Valley, CA 91752

1115: Mission briefing

1145: KSU to family home, Mira Loma for flag line (2 miles)

1215: KSU to Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518 (19 miles)  to staging area for shelter

1245: Est arrival at RNC

1315: KSU to assigned shelter for Flag Line, Military Honors and services.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
