The PGR has been invited by the Family of Manuel Sotero to Honor their Hero, and it is our privilege to do so.

Manuel Sotero enlisted in the US Marine Corps shortly after High School. He served with the US Marine Corps as an U.S. Embassy Security Guard in Seoul, Korea and Tehran, Iran. He was honorably discharged after his enlistment of 4 years.

Manuel Antonio Sotero, 64, was called to his heavenly home on Oct. 11, 2021. He was born
July 21, 1957 to his parents Amelia and Tony Sotero. He was raised in Guadalupe, Ca. and
attended K-8th grade at Guadalupe Elementary School and graduated from Ernest Righetti High School in 1975. Upon his discharge from the Marines he went back to school and he graduated from Allan Hancock College.

He met his wife, Elizabeth, while in grade school. They married in 1980, and went on to have two wonderful sons, Armando, and Daniel.

He was involved with Westside Little League and the Boys & Girls Club Basketball Leagues; he coached his sons, a role he cherished year after year. Manuel worked 17 years for Sheehy Berry Farms and then went on to work for Cox Communications in Goleta as a Field Technical Expert. He retired after 20 years in 2017.

Manuel loved softball and played in leagues throughout Santa Maria as a shortstop. He
enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife and grandkids and reliving his military experience, there were so many stories. He was a handyman and always looked forward to his next project.
But most of all he cherished his time spent with his grandchildren. He was a loyal member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph's Church, 4th Degree, helping with St. Joseph's
community services.

He was preceded in death by his father Tony Soltero, brothers David Soltero, Ralph Victorino, maternal grandmother Carmen Guerrero and Uncle Vincent. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, they celebrated 41 years of marriage this year. Sons Armando (Autumn) and Daniel (Serina) and his grandchildren, Mark, Elaina, Grayson, Clark, Oliver and Izabelle Soltero. His mother and father Amelia and Armando Reyes of Guadalupe, brothers Bob (Debbie) Aguirre of Hanford, CA, Gilbert Victorino and Kenny Armenta of Guadalupe.Tony (Sara) Soltero and sister Stephanie (Marvin) Gonzalez, of Santa Maria. He is also survived by his sister in laws, brother in laws, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
